Memory Scripture 10

Isaiah 58:6
"Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke."

Message translation: "This is the kind of fast day I'm after: to break the chains of injustice, get rid of exploitation in the workplace, free the oppressed, cancel debts."

Romans 11:16
For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.

As you all know, I begin each year with a 21 day fast. It is my way of giving God the first fruit of my year in time. Since I don't really believe in coincidences, I will go on record and say that my life has continued to transform and go from glory to glory since I began doing first fruit fasting in January 2006. Prayerfully I hope that each of you join me this year as we set the course of 2008 by giving God the first fruits of our time in January.

I will personally begin the Daniel fast on January 1, that's right, on New Years...I'm giving Him the first 21 days of the year, including New Years Day.

Daniel 10:11
I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled. ***the King James Version says pleasant bread; NKJ says pleasant food.

To further clarify I abstain from pleasant food (bread, sugar and sweets - including drinks), meat (including fish) and wine (alcoholic beverages). I also abstain from fried foods such as french fries and fried okra - two of my favorites!

He Is.

I am still shocked at how over the years I have misread an important phrase in Hebrews 11:6. Honestly, I knew the scripture as "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." I totally glossed over the most important part of the verse: "...for he who comes to God must believe that He is...." He is. Two simple words, but so profound in meaning. We must not only believe that God will do what He promises to do, but we must first believe that He IS.

I find it interesting that the text does not say exactly who God is...it begs the question, "God is what or God is who?" To a writer and reader, it seems as though the syntax of the sentence is incorrect. But it's totally right. God is (that's a complete thought and sentence in itself).

  • God is God.
  • God is the Creator.
  • God is the Master.
  • God is the Father.
  • God is the Provider.
  • God is the Healer.
  • God is the Rewarder.
  • God is the All-Knowing.
  • God is the All-Powerful.
  • God is Everywhere.
  • God is the Great I AM.
  • He is.
He's everything we have faith in Him to be in this life and we please Him with this faith.

When you go to the Father this week in prayer, believe in your spirit that He is. Before you utter a request or offer praise to His name, believe in your spirit that He is (presently...right now) all that you need. Do you need healing? He is that healing. Do you need an idea or creativity? He is that idea. Do you need love and reassurance? He is that for you. He simply IS.

Rest assured that the Great I AM is directing the course of your life. Believe it in faith and believe that He is.

In His Love,
Kristina

Memory Scripture 9

Habakkuk 2:4b
The just shall live by faith.
Message version: The person in right standing before God through loyal and steady believing is fully alive, really alive.

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Romans 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Matthew 9:29b
According to your faith, let it be done unto you.

***Now that our faith is built up, what do we do next? We walk it out...literally.

2 Corinthians 5:7
For we walk by faith and not by sight.

***Why? Why is it important to act on our faith?

James 2:26
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead.
Message version: The very moment you separate body and spirit, you end up with a corpse. Separate faith and works and you get the same thing: a corpse.

**Although it's not included as a memory scripture at this time, 1 Peter 1:7 tells us that our faith is of greater worth than gold.
